Cazorla
Well as we said in the summary being here is one of those serendipitous events. We were headed to the Parque Natural de Carzola to do some walking and had booked a hotel in the park. Cazorla is the gateway to the park, so we asked Jane Tom Tom to take us there. Once there — after a 4 hr drive including about an hour of snow — we found that the hotel was actualyy stilll an hour or more away. It was already dark so we opted to stay — found a very nice budget hotel which was lovely & warm.
Cazorla is a lovely hill town of 9000 people. As you see from the photos, very taken with the scenery.
The only downside was the hunting culture — deer, boar etc heads were on the walls of every restaurant and there was a total lack of understanding about what vegetarian meant. On the first night Sarah had deer and I had wild boar. Deer was good, boar I'll not bother with again.
Had 2 nights there and spent the full day tramping around the town, which is quite a tourist town for Spainards but seemingly less so for foreigners. Very hard to find any English, and yet another local dialect — they do not pronounce 's' in words so it took all of us to understand 'tostados' (toast)!
